About Aduro

The Magic Pen. An old discipline, applied to decisions that are anything but old.

The name.

Aduro is Latin: to set alight, to kindle. The Magic Pen is the instrument. It is what rewrites a narrative, reframes a position, and writes a possibility into existence where a moment earlier there was none. In the hand of someone who genuinely holds power, and who is guided by more than appetite, a pen settles more than most armies do.

The practice.

For more than ten years I have worked alongside principals who carry the weight of a state: heads of state, ruling and royal houses, cabinet officers, and senior figures in the diplomatic and national-security community. What distinguishes the practice is a refusal to separate two things that are ordinarily handled in separate rooms. The contemplative depth of Islamic wisdom sits on one side. The analytical discipline of first-principles strategy sits on the other. Both are held inside one mandate, because leadership is lived that way whether or not it is admitted.

On one side, spiritual consultation: intuitive counsel, conscience alignment, legacy work, and the older advice that has steadied rulers for a very long time. On the other, strategic work of a conventional kind: geopolitical scenario design, succession architecture, crisis resolution, and the lateral solution that converts an untenable position into one you can defend on the record.

The clients.

Sitting heads of state. Constitutional and absolute monarchs. Prime ministers and cabinet officers. Principals of family offices of consequence. Senior figures inside institutions that shape policy and national security. They are not named, not alluded to, and neither confirmed nor denied. Their identities exist inside the engagement and nowhere else, and that position has held without a single exception for the life of the practice.

The approach.

I do not advise from playbooks, party doctrine or recycled consultancy frameworks. Each mandate is built from the position itself: the particular constellation of constituencies, adversaries, alliances and obligations that defines where you stand. The work is to examine what the standing apparatus has stopped observing, to test what the court and the cabinet have agreed to accept, and to arrive at options that were not on anyone's list.

The spiritual and the strategic are not two disciplines. They are two ends of one instrument. Where a principal is clear internally, the external strategy costs materially less to execute. Where the strategy rests on something actually believed, it becomes difficult to argue against. That is the method, and it is the reason mandates here are renewed across decades rather than quarters.

The presence.

There is no office. I travel to wherever the counsel is required: royal palaces, secure government compounds, private retreats and diplomatic residences, on every continent. That is not a constraint to be managed. It is how this work has always been conducted.
